Who am I?

My name is Rachel Spak.
I am a singer/songwriter.
I am a trained classical violinist.
I have a deep love for both Irish and American folk music.
I am a teacher.

I believe music has power to be light in the darkest night.
Follow along as I try to make the world a bit brighter, one note at a time.

Rachel Spak is a stubborn creative who refuses to pick just one thing to be when she grows up. She is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and educator active in the greater Youngstown, Ohio area. Growing up, it was guaranteed to find Rachel either nose-deep into a book or playing music. Her love of words and melodies finally collided in her mid twenties when she began writing her own lyrics and music.

Her music, experiences  and influences are not limited to one genre or style.  If you were a fly on the wall of the Spak household, you would hear an eclectic mix ranging from Dvorak , Tchaikovsky, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Steely Dan, the Mamas and the Papas, Carole King, Sammy Rae and the Friends, Lake Street Dive, and more.

Rachel Spak’s debut single, “Caught on a Breeze”, is an anthem of hope for all who find themselves staring at their life,  longing for more. It speaks to the scaredy cat in all of us, the kitten clinging to the highest tree branch, terrified to let go and fall to safety. We all  are longing for freedom from fear. We all desperately want to be splashing in the waves, yet we tend to cling to the shore.

With inspiring lyrics,  cheerful instrumentation, and a unique vocal style, Rachel Spak's  "Caught on a Breeze" will motivate you to reach for the stars.  It's infectious melodies are guaranteed to stick in your ear and brighten even the darkest day.  Help spread the sunshine by sharing the song until the whole world feels the confidence to dance free like an autumn leaf caught on a breeze.
